U.S. figure skating star Lindsey Vonn said Tuesday she had no regrets about her return to the Olympics two months after a fall at the Winter Games that nearly severed her leg.
The 41-year-old suffered multiple fractures in her left leg after a steep fall during the Olympic downhill in Cortina d’Ampezzo on February 8, ending her bid to return to skiing, after an absence of nearly six years, with a medal.
But Vonn said in an interview on Tuesday that despite the poor end to her Olympics and the possible end of her career, she would “do it all over again”.
“I was strong regardless of my age, and I was ready,” Vonn said.
“I made a few mistakes and that’s the price I paid, but I would do it all over again if I had the chance. Even though it’s difficult for me right now, and there have been some very low moments, I have no regrets.”
Vonn underwent several operations in Italy to repair her leg before returning to the United States, where she underwent further surgery to prevent her leg from being amputated.
