The 16th game of IPL 2026 between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans clash turned out to be the last to bite the ball. With DC needing just two runs from two balls, David Miller was denied a single, a decision that ultimately cost his team the match. Gujarat Titans finally held their nerve and secured a comfortable one-run victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Miller’s night was already eventful. He hurt his right hand while fielding, then battled through the pain as DC chased down 211. With KL Rahul out and the equation tightening, Miller stepped up and beat Mohammed Siraj by 23 runs in the penalty shootout. That brought DC within touching distance, needing 13 off the last six balls.
Turning Point
Prasidh Krishna scored the last over under great pressure. Miller unleashed a massive run of 106 meters to reduce the target to two runs from two balls. But the moment of confusion came – he pulled a shot to square leg and denied one that would have sealed the game. Kuldeep Yadav was left stranded, and DC’s hopes of forcing a Super Over vanished. On the last ball, Krishna held his nerve, sealing the win for GT.

DC captain Axar Patel admitted the team could have played “more ethically,” while Rashid Khan, Man of the Match, said he was glad not to be in Miller’s shoes. Even seasoned voices like Ravichandran Ashwin called the decision “bonkers.”
Social Media Responses
I never thought that a match between GT and DC could be this interesting. It looked one-sided for DC, and David Miller almost won the game for them, but a brain fade cost them, and they lost by 1 run, DC at DC.

Fans wasted no time in drawing parallels with South Africa’s famous “chokora” tag. One user compared Miller’s call to Lance Klusener’s foul in the 1999 World Cup semi-final, while another wrote: “DAVID MILLER IS TIRED AGAIN. He gave up a single and lost the game.”

Others accused him of chasing glory rather than action, with one fan saying: “Why refuse to run? It was an easy chance to end the match.” Others even hinted at darker allegations, questioning whether match-fixing was involved, although there is no evidence to support such claims.
