A bus caught fire in western Switzerland on Tuesday, killing at least six people and injuring five others in what police said may have been a deliberate act.
The fire broke out on the bus on the main road of the small town of Kerzers, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of the Swiss capital Bern, at 18:25.
Videos circulating on social media showed flames several meters high coming out of windows and black smoke rising into the sky.
The fire “has caused six deaths and five injuries, three of them seriously”, Friborg Cantonal police sergeant Frederic Papaux said.
“The police are currently treating the fire as a human incident, and even a deliberate act,” he said, without giving further details.

At the press conference, the police would not be interested in possible hypotheses including suicide or an act of terrorism.
