Still, the Chinese used paper to write before any other race, and were pioneers in its other uses as well: TP. The first recorded use of toilet paper comes from the scholar Yan Zhitui in 589 AD: “Paper on which there are quotations or commentaries from the Five Books or the names of sages, I dare not use for toilet purposes.” What is evident here is that things without a small title were fair game.
