Inigo Calderon wants Kitchee to wash away the bitter taste of defeat in the cup final and conclude the Premier League on Sunday to prove they are “the best team in Hong Kong”.
A win against the BC Rangers at the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground would see head coach Calderon’s side crowned champions with four games to spare.
They could even have their promotion confirmed earlier in the day if Lee Man, who beat Kitchee in Tuesday’s League Cup final, lose a game in Northern District.
“We have a great chance to get an important trophy, if we win on Sunday it will mean we are the best team in Hong Kong and I want to show that,” Calderon said.
“I said from the start that the league was what we really wanted. Losing the cup final felt really bad but … it was the one game where Lee Man’s plan worked best for them.
“Sunday would be the best way to forget about it. Obviously the side I want to have one game doesn’t change that.”
