Snooker world No. 1 Bai Yulu said on Tuesday that she hopes her trip will inspire more people to appreciate the charm of the game, and encourage more girls to take up the cue.
In a 37-minute interview with state media, the 22-year-old discussed his career path and described himself as still in a “growth phase”.
The defending women’s snooker world champion described herself as a “weak early bird”, attributing her success to a lot of practice rather than “genius”.
“I think talent plays a small part; it really depends on how much time you’re willing to spend on this game,” he said.
Recalling her childhood training with her male colleagues, Bai noted that despite her slow progress, she practiced a lot, spending eight to 10 hours at the table every day.
Even as world No. 1, he maintains a high routine, saying: “If talent is lacking, one must practice harder than others.”
