Former French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin dies at 88 – POLITICO


Jospin, patron of traditional parties, criticized President Emmanuel Macron for making them old-fashioned and the “hubris” of the French president. in a published book in 2020.

Jospin, who successfully united the left bloc during his tenure as party leader in the 1990s and became prime minister in 1997, backed a left-wing coalition that unites the Socialists, Greens and France’s far-left during the 2022 parliamentary election campaign.

But he warned against French leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s disruptive political strategy shortly after the election, warning of its damaging effects on the far left in an interview with The world.
