French financial prosecutors said on Tuesday that searches were carried out at several locations, including the Paris arm of Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild, as part of an investigation linked to revelations from Jeffrey Epstein’s files.
France’s national financial prosecutor’s office said the search was carried out last Friday as part of a preliminary investigation opened last month. Investigators are looking into allegations of bribery involving a foreign public official and involvement involving former French diplomat Fabrice Aidan.
The investigation was opened after being sent by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and following the revelations published in Epstein’s files and later reported in France.
Aidan emerged as the center of the French controversy following the release of millions of US Justice Department documents on January 30.
