Hong Kong will field their strongest squad at the 2026 UCI Track World Cup at home next month, in what head coach Herve Dagorne has claimed is the “toughest of the season”.
Ahead of the event, which will be held at the Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O from April 17 to 19, the team is aiming for 10 medals at the Asian Road Cycling Championships later this month as it prepares for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“We really need to be at our best,” Dagorne said. “We need to act.”
Dagorne said the competition will be intense this year, with the Olympic qualification race starting at the end of the year, and with the Chinese national team getting stronger, after hiring a new coach with high potential and ready to show strong results at the Perth circuit of the three-course series of the UCI Track World Cup.
The Frenchman added that Japan remains a major competitor and other countries can also spring surprises.

The situation in the Middle East prevented some teams from reaching the Perth round, but those teams were expected to return for the Hong Kong tournament, he said, further raising the level of competition.
