Ishan Kishan played a 77 off 40 balls in the first innings of India’s innings. Contributions also came from Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Tilak Verma. For Pakistan, Saim Ayub was the pick of the bowlers; he ended up with 3/25 in his 4-over spell.
Chasing 176, Pakistan faltered from the start. Their batting crumbled under pressure, losing wickets quickly and failing to build momentum. Only Usman Khan put up any resistance, as the rest of the batting line-up crumbled, making it a one-sided contest until the end of the powerplay.
Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel got two wickets each. Pakistan’s entire batting order collapsed within 18 overs, and they managed to score only 114 runs. This is India’s biggest win over Pakistan in T20 World Cup.
Despite struggling against spin later, India managed to post 175 runs. Team India posted a total of 175/7. Notably, this is Pakistan’s eighth defeat against India in T20 World Cup history, with their only win coming in 2021.
