Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a thrilling three-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 15 of IPL 2026 at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. The game went down to the very last ball, with Mukul Choudhary scoring 54 off 27 balls to seal the victory in spectacular style.
Winning the toss, LSG elected to bowl first and restrict KKR to 181/4 in 20 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane set the tone with a blistering 41 off 24 balls, while youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 45 off 33. In the final score, Rovman Powell (39 off 24) and Cameron Green (32 not out off 24) put together a 70-run stand of 70 K0R for Dig 8, Singh, 24. Rathi enjoyed figures of 1/25 in his four overs, with Shami and Avesh Khan keeping things in check.
LSG Chase: Badoni and Choudhary Shine
Chasing 182, LSG lost early wickets including skipper Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran. However, Ayush Badoni leveled the scorers by scoring 54 goals from 34 balls, thus making the hunt continue despite repeated defeats.
The real turning point came when Mukul Choudhary came in and LSG were struggling for 128/7 in the 16th over. Initially slow to start, he exploded in the final overs, smashing seven sixes and four fours. His fearless knock against Vaibhav Arora, Kartik Tyagi, and Cameron Green turned the game on its head.
With 14 needed off the last over, Choudhary hit a huge six and then pulled off an incredible chopper over the wicket to level the scores. On the last ball, he took one run to complete a chase that at times looked unattainable.
A missed opportunity for KKR
KKR’s bowling was led by Anukul Roy (2/32) and Vaibhav Arora (2/38), but their batting faltered under pressure. Despite a strong batting display, the inability to defend a combined total at home will sting.
For LSG, the win was a testament to their low-key resilience. KKR, on the other hand, are yet to get their first win after four matches in IPL 2026.
