Iran War Puts Pressure on Europe


President Trump’s war in Iran is putting economic pressure on many European countries. Turn on Washington Week With The AtlanticThe panelists came together to discuss the effects of the conflict on America’s allies, and more.

“It’s a very strange time because, on the one hand, the US and NATO partners are cooperating to a great extent,” said Anne Applebaum, a staff writer at Atlantiche said last night, referring to the logistical and intelligence support that some European countries have provided to the United States since Trump started the war in Iran. The president, however, is also “looking for a scapegoat, and he’s landed on the Europeans,” Applebaum added.

In Trump’s second term, America’s European allies have been “insulted, taxed, attacked,” Applebaum argued. “And there comes a time when people start saying, What do we get from this relationship?
