Jonathan Greenberger named POLITICO international editor-in-chief


POLITICO announced today thatJonathan Greenbergeris mentionedGlobal Editor-in-Chiefeffective May 1. In this role, Greenberger will oversee all aspects of POLITICO’s global newsroom. Greenberger succeeds John Harris, who will take over as Chairman of POLITICO.

In making the announcement, POLITICO CEO Goli Sheikholeslami said, “Over the past 15 months, the world has fundamentally changed, and the investments POLITICO has made over the past three years have put us in this position. At the end of an extensive search process, Jonathan’s fresh and unconventional ideas convinced us all that he was the person who could bring a vision and the potential for others to bring our vision to life. With Jonathan at the helm, POLITICO is poised to establish itself as a global news organization that matters in to understand the world.”

From being the youngest executive producer in the history of ABC’s “This Week” and nearly a decade as ABC News’ Washington Bureau Chief to his work transforming POLITICO into a multi-platform publisher as Executive Vice President since 2024, Greenberger has distinguished himself as a leader and as a journalist. In her new role, she will work with Alex Burns and Kate Day to develop POLITICO’s news collection and accelerate how the organization shares its journalism with audiences.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Greenberger holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis. Louis and a JD from Stanford Law School.

Among the journalists Greenberger has hired for POLITICO is Dasha Burns, who, starting May 1, will expand the reach of POLITICO’s reporting across platforms and around the world by adding the role of POLITICO Global Anchor to her existing roles as White House Chief of Staff, host of The Conversation, and Senior Playbook Writer. Burns will work closely with Greenberger to develop new video and audio formats that help accelerate POLTICO’s transformation into a multimedia brand.
