A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a woman who pleaded guilty to trafficking to 15 years in prison Friends star Matthew Perry ketamine killed him in 2023.
US District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett handed down the sentence to 42-year-old Jasveen Sangha. He became the third defendant to be sentenced out of five people who have pleaded guilty in connection with the 54-year-old actor’s overdose.
His role as Chandler Bing on NBC Friends in the 1990s and 2000s it made him one of the biggest television stars of the time.
Sangha was the only one whose plea deal included admitting to causing Perry’s death.
Prosecutors had recommended a 15-year sentence. They brought her to court as the “Queen of Ketamine” who ran an elaborate drug operation catering to high-end clients to make a living jet setting despite a life of privilege.
Sangha’s lawyers said in presenting their sentence that the time he has spent in prison since his indictment in August 2024 is enough. They cited his lack of prior criminal record and exemplary behavior as a prisoner, as well as the possibility of returning to a life of drug dealing.
