Tehran has reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz to ships from unfriendly nations
Several oil tankers off the coast of Iraq and Kuwait, as well as a major port in Oman, have reportedly burned as the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran continues to shock global energy markets.
At least two oil tankers were targeted in separate attacks near Iraq’s Umm Qasr port early Thursday, while Oman’s Salalah port continued to burn into the night.
President Donald Trump has announced the United States “Iran almost destroyed it” but he said he does not want to end the campaign early and he needs to “to finish the job.”
Tehran, for its part, has claimed that its army has been able to overwhelm the enemy’s air defenses, making Israel and US military bases in the Middle East more vulnerable.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has said its latest wave of revenge attacks was coordinated by Hizbullah. In response, Israel has continued to strike Lebanon, sometimes knocking down entire buildings, and killing at least 634 in the past ten days, according to the region’s health ministry.
