Richmond residents have been left stunned after a sledgehammer was badly hit in a local suburb, sending sparks flying.
Online footage shows the gray fur driving down Church Street, the front driver’s side wheel badly damaged and the undercarriage careening down the road, sending smoke, sparks and ear-splitting into the air.
Photos posted online in nearby York Street show the end of the incident, where the ute appears to have hit a maroon sedan and left it on top of a blue sedan, crushing the blue car’s bonnet.
Police have confirmed that they have arrested the person believed to be behind the wheel, and that around 10 vehicles were damaged in the incident.
“Multiple calls were received regarding a vehicle being driven erratically in the Richmond and Collingwood areas around 7 p.m.,” officials said in a statement.
“The driver hit about four cars on York Street in Richmond before his car came to a stop. A hot pursuit ensued, and the man was arrested.”
“No one was injured during the incidents, but many vehicles were hit and damaged, numbering around 10 at this stage.”
The actual circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
