Former world number one Naomi Osaka said she is considering how best to balance her tennis and motherhood schedule after losing 7-5 6-4 to Australia’s Talia Gibson in her opening match on Saturday at the Miami Open.
Osaka returned to the tour in 2024 after a 15-month break following the birth of her daughter and reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year.
He withdrew before his scheduled third-round match at the Australian Open in January due to an abdominal injury.
The four-time major tennis champion lost to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the round of 16 at Indian Wells this month before another early exit in Miami.
When asked about his plans for the clay season, Osaka said he is considering the needs of the tour and the time he wants to spend at home.
“I feel like this is also a problem for me,” Osaka said.
