Shortly before 5:00 a.m. AEST, the Orion spacecraft, which the crew has named Integrity, fired its thrusters for eight seconds to push the capsule toward Earth.
Mission control said it was “a final fine-tuning of Integrity’s path to reach a good point in the Pacific Ocean for entry”.
One more burn will come at 9.37 am, which “only needs to raise the rear of the vehicle a little bit, by one or two degrees, to improve the angle of attack of the vehicle when it enters the space, to reduce the effects of the heat peak on the heat shield for Integrity”, the mission control said.
“Our attitude is dead, on the money, down the pike.”
