Russian athletes have won 12 times in total – eight gold, one silver and three bronze – taking the team to fourth place in the medal standings.
Russian cross-country runner Anastasia Bagiyan has won a gold medal in the 20km race for visually impaired athletes at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, becoming a three-time champion at the Games in Italy.
The 24-year-old previously won the sprint and the 10km classical race.
This year’s Games are the first Paralympics where Russian athletes have been allowed to compete under the national flag after years of international bans and sanctions.
Earlier in the day, Russian cross-country runner Vera Voronchikhina won gold in the women’s cross-country race at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
Russian cross-country runner Ivan Golubkov also won gold in the 20km individual medley, finishing in 51 minutes 55 seconds. The 30-year-old six-time world champion had placed first in the 10km race.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Paralympic champions Vera Voronchikhina and Anastasia Bagiyan on their gold medals.
Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions on 10 Russian Paralympic athletes, according to a document published on his office’s website on Sunday.
Ukraine’s sanctions package also targets another 130 individuals and 48 legal entities.
The move comes in time for the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, where the Russian team has posted impressive results.

Russia’s Paralympic team was cleared to compete earlier this year after Moscow won an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, which had barred athletes from Russia and Belarus despite the International Olympic Committee’s reinstatement last year.
The Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games opened on March 6 and run until March 15, with six Russian athletes competing in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.
