The US appears to be responsible for the Iranian school strike that killed many children

US military investigators believe there is a possibility that US forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls’ school that killed dozens of children on Saturday but have not yet reached a final conclusion or completed their investigation, two US officials told Reuters.

Reuters was unable to determine further details about the investigation, including the evidence that contributed to the interim assessment, what type of ammunition was used, who was responsible or why the US may have struck the school.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday acknowledged that the US military was investigating the incident.

The leaders, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military issues, did not rule out the possibility of new evidence exonerating the United States of responsibility and pointing to another party involved in the incident.
