The US military launches a rescue operation for the downed pilots in Iran


The US military is scrambling to find the pilots of an F-15 fighter jet that was shot down over Iran on Friday, in a possible blow to the Trump administration’s efforts to quickly end the week-long standoff.

A US official confirmedIranian state media reportsabout the incident and said efforts are ongoing to save them.

The whereabouts of the two flight attendants were not immediately known, nor was the location of the crash known.Iranian state mediasaid Friday that the pilot had been ejected from the plane, although US officials would not confirm.

The Department of Defense, the Air Force, and U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The official was not named to discuss the ongoing military operation.
