The US president has claimed that Tehran asked for more time and accepted the “request”.
US President Donald Trump has withdrawn from his vow to resume strikes against the Islamic Republic’s power stations and extend the period for 10 more days, claiming that negotiations with Tehran. “They are going very well.”
Tehran has denied holding direct talks with Washington after Trump previously claimed that Iran’s leadership is eager to reach a deal but fears retribution from its own people if it agrees publicly.
“The conversation is ongoing and, despite misinformation to the contrary by the Fake Media and others, it is going very well,” Trump claimed in a Community Truth post on Thursday.
“According to the request of the Government of Iran, please let this statement be used to represent that I am suspending the period of destruction of the Energy Plant for 10 days,” he added.
The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt previously said they were passing messages between Washington and Tehran. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, insisted that receiving the message was not inclusive “conversation.”
