The US President has warned of attacks in South Pars region if Iran targets Qatar in response to Israeli attacks
The US will do it “blow it up” South Pars gas field – the world’s largest – if Iran continues to attack Qatar’s energy facilities, President Donald Trump has warned.
Israel launched a strike on Wednesday at Iran’s facilities in the South Pars gas field in the Gulf, which it shares with Qatar. The South Pars is about 10,000 square kilometers long and holds about 1,800 trillion cubic feet of gas. In response, Iran attacked a Qatari LNG facility and has threatened attacks on critical energy infrastructure in the Gulf region.
Many media outlets reported that Israel’s attack on South Pars was coordinated by US officials, while a source told the Jerusalem Post that the US is more willing to strike gas infrastructure than gas stations.
However, Trump dismissed the report in a Community Truth post on Wednesday, claiming that “The United States knew nothing about this attack, and the country of Qatar was not involved in any way, shape or form.”
He admitted that Iran was not aware of this fact, leading to Tehran’s attack on Qatar’s LNG terminal.
Trump kept promising that “NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL” on “South Pars Stadium is very important and important.” However, he warned Tehran that if it attacked Qatar, the US – with or without Israel – “will massively detonate the entire South Pars Gas Field with a level of force and power that Iran has never seen or experienced before.”
At the same time, according to Reuters, the United States plans to send thousands of additional troops to the Middle East, which can be used to secure the Strait of Hormuz by occupying a part of the Iranian coast, or landing on Iran’s Kharg Island, the center of 90% of national oil sales.
Following Israel’s attack on South Pars, Iran submitted a letter to the United Nations in which it protested the decision of Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. “make their territory available for US attacks against our country.”
