Fans were outraged by Travis Scott’s first 20-minute Istanbul set

US rapper Travis Scott angered fans in Istanbul after a 20-minute show, with the audience booing him as he left the stage early Monday, social media footage showed.

In his first visit to Turkey, the 35-year-old hip-hop star made his debut in Istanbul on Sunday and was due to perform another event in the western resort of Izmir on Monday.

The Istanbul event was billed as “a show that goes beyond a regular concert” with a small audience of just 2,500 fans, according to one of the websites selling tickets, which started at US$330.

The promotional blurb promised a 90-minute “DJ set & mic” with the Houston-born rapper starting at 11pm local time between performances by lesser-known artists.

But the fans said Scott he was 90 minutes late and escaped after playing for 20 minutes, despite being the headliner.

“Shameful incident. They said he would start at 11:00 pm, he arrived at 00:35. We waited for hours, he sang one song and then left. We lost our money,” wrote a fan named Ala Artan on Instagram.
