A current analysis by the German Institute for Human Rights concludes that the AfD poses a risk to people with disabilities. Pauline von Petzold and Frederik Schindler are working on the research and highlighting the border information from Björn Höcke and Maximilian Krah. They also speak to the group’s disability policy spokesperson, Jan Feser, about claims of marginalization and dehumanisation.
The International Economic Forum in Russia has started, and four prominent AfD politicians are on the panel. Schindler and von Pezold discuss, among other things, why the federal leadership around Alice Weidel allows unrestricted travel at this time.
Despite the decision of the party’s leaders to disagree, AfD officials such as Federal Deputy Chairman Kay Gottschalk met, among others, with the head of the far-right Identitarian Movement, Martin Sellner, in the so-called “Immigration Conference” in Portugal. What was discussed there and how the meeting went is also a topic for both.
“Inside the AfD” is POLITICO’s podcast about the country’s most controversial party.
Despite the extreme positions and monitoring of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the AfD continues to grow. How is that possible? What drives his supporters, strategists and opponents? How does the internal affairs of the party work? And what does their rise mean for the German political system?
Answers are given every Wednesday Pauline von Pezold from POLITICO and Frederick Schindler from WELT – quiet, but important.
