Ukraine’s drone strikes deep inside Russia are causing “fear” for the Kremlin, the European Union’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas said on Wednesday, saying Moscow is attacking Kyiv with increased attacks.
Ukrainian drones struck energy and military sites in St Petersburg on Wednesday as officials gathered for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s major economic summit in the city.
“It also clearly shows fear on the part of Russia – why they are increasing the terrorist attacks that they are doing in Ukraine is because they don’t know what to do with these things,” Kallas said in an interview.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strike “just” retaliation for bombing Ukraine and threatened to launch more.
“Ukraine has actually increased the strike against oil stations, because oil is something that finances the war in Ukraine,” Kallas said.
“We see at the same time that Putin is losing money, men, and speed, and that is why he is increasing attacks against civilians.”
