“If you want to be a championship team, you have to win your home games,” freshman quarterback Jake Maier said after Thursday’s practice. “I think, at any level of football, you understand that playing at home is a great opportunity and an honor, and you want to make sure that you have the support of the people who pay the bills here, and that’s the fans. We want to make sure we do well for them, and, obviously, when you win enough home games, it sets you up well for the rest of the season.
