The investigation led by Senator Erwin Tulfo comes days after the Cayetano camp held what it considered a “blue ribbon committee” on the same issue.
MANILA, Philippines – The Senate blue-ribbon committee begins its investigation into alleged multimillion-dollar corruption flood control projects on Monday, June 8, this time under the leadership of its new chairman, Senator Erwin Tulfo.
This comes a few days after the camp led by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano organized what it considered a “blue ribbon committee” meeting.
Senator Pia Cayetano has maintained that he remains the chairman of the committee despite the upheavals of the leaders who removed him from the post and removed his brother as president of the Senate.
Questions have been asked about the validity of the case headed by Cayetano, as the secretariat of the blue ribbon committee was not present during the hearing.
The “hearing” of June 3 also became a platform for 18 people who are alleged to be former assistants of former MP Zaldy Co. levels of corruption allegations against members of the Marcos family and individuals critical of the Duterte family. Many of their claims, however, were inconsistent and unsupported by evidence.
The same people who are alleged to be former security assistants were invited to attend the trial led by Tulfo, along with some of the people who accused them. The alleged security aides also claimed that the new blue ribbon chairman was among those who received money from government projects, which Tulfo denied.
Former parliament speaker Martin Romualdez, the president’s cousin, was also invited.
