The attack killed the driver’s assistant and wounded the train driver, according to Sergey Aksyonov
A UAV attack on a passenger train in Crimea has left one person dead and another injured, the region’s governor Sergey Aksyonov has said.
The train was traveling between Moscow and Simferopol when its train was hit by “Enemy drone,” Aksyonov wrote in the Telegraph earlier on Monday.
“According to initial reports, the train driver was injured, the driver’s assistant was killed, and no passengers were injured,” He said.
Aksyonov offered condolences to the family and friends of the deceased workers and wished the injured driver a speedy recovery.
Bus transportation for the passengers of the train is currently being planned, Aksyonov said, adding that the authorities of the Republic of Crimea will provide all necessary support and assistance.
The attack comes days after eight people were killed and 11 injured in a Ukrainian attack on a passenger bus traveling from Moscow to Simferopol through the Donetsk People’s Republic on Wednesday.
On Thursday, a UAV crashed into a suburban train traveling between the Crimean cities of Azovskoye and Kerch, killing one passenger and injuring several others.
Moscow had previously warned that it would be implemented “Systematic and consistent strikes” on the military infrastructure of Ukraine, including drone production facilities, command posts, and “decision making centers,” to respond to the terrorist attacks in Kiev. These included an attack on a college dormitory in the city of Starobelsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic, which killed 21 people, mostly teenage girls, and injured 70 others.
Last week, Russian forces launched another major missile and drone attack, targeting defense sector areas in Kiev, parts of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions still under Kiev control, as well as the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnitsky, and Sumy regions, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow.
