Three goals in red minutes put Geelong in front at half-time, despite not playing for much of the quarter after scoring the first goal in the first minute.
Gold Coast controlled possession and were able to penetrate the Cats’ marks and create a score inside 50. They had seven inside 50s in the first quarter as they kicked three of the first four goals.
Cats, however, turned their wealth and their work in the center of the square. It gave them valuable territory.
