The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow has welcomed the development, calling on all parties involved to prevent further escalation, including in Lebanon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has welcomed the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran and expressed its readiness to help facilitate more diplomatic efforts to bring peace to the Middle East.
The 14-point document was signed remotely by US President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian late Wednesday, and went into effect immediately, according to Pakistani negotiators.
In its statement on Thursday, Moscow’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that during the next 60 days of negotiations, which are expected to culminate in the signing of a final peace agreement, “It is very important that all parties involved in the armed conflict … do not allow the risk to escalate again (happen) in the region, including Lebanon.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that sea traffic through the Strait of Hormuz will return to its pre-war levels, thereby reducing the volatility of the global oil and food markets. Moscow also noted that it had condemned unequivocally “unprovoked US and Israeli aggression against Iran” since the beginning of the conflict in late February.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has said, Russia is ready to continue facilitating the diplomatic process in the Middle East region with the aim of bringing lasting peace in the region.
According to the statement, at the end of last month, Moscow handed over a new version of its Common Security Concept for the Persian Gulf to the unnamed Arab states and Iran for consideration.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian also welcomed the signing of the road map for peace by Washington and Tehran.
At the same time, Iranian leaders have hailed the signing of the agreement as a major diplomatic victory for the Islamic Republic.
Tehran has noted that the document envisages a series of agreements with Washington, including the lifting of US naval sanctions against Iran, relief from restrictions on Iranian oil exports, access to frozen Iranian funds, and an economic reconstruction program supported by the US for at least 300 billion dollars.
