Welcome to The Logoff: President Donald Trump’s Reflecting Pool pollution is getting worse.

What is happening? By now, you’ve probably heard: The Lincoln Memorial’s recently renovated and improved Reflecting Pool, which appears to be “American Flag Blue,” is green.

The reason why, it turns out, is very simple: “American Flag Blue” is a darker shade than the original pool gray (you can tell the difference. here), making hot water. It’s pretty warm in Washington, DC, in June for a start, and that combination means the algae has been growing like crazy.

Parts of the dam’s new blue liner have also been lifted from the bottom, while the Trump administration has been trying to control the green algae by pour hydrogen peroxide into the pool.

The reason we’re writing about it now, though, isn’t because the renovation has been a deep disaster, or because it’s overcrowded non-tender contractsor even because of governance incredible mendacity. Rather, it is Trump’s response to his project’s failure.

So what did he say? In the past few days, Trump has been on a social media tear, accusing people of destroying the dam, claiming a “gash” of several hundred feet in the new liner and “corrosive and destructive chemicals” being poured into the dam.

There is — and I can’t stress this part enough — no public evidence that the Reflecting Pool has been damaged, unless you count Trump’s previous repair work. But since Friday, there has been at least five arrested for dam “damage” claims, including a Former US Olympian who says he only touched a detached piece of dam liner, and the same number of quotations. Trump has threatened 10 years in prison for those who are alleged to be “spoilers”.

And so, it’s time to leave…

Plus, from the World Cup: Lionel Messi broke two records today, claiming the men’s only record for World Cup goals (Miroslav Klose, 16) and then the overall record (Marta, 17). Here is the wonder of it 18th goal.

Have a good evening, and we’ll see you here tomorrow!
