Apple warned us. That company it is called the price increase on its products is “inevitable” just a few weeks ago. On Thursday afternoon, they became official on Apple’s website.
Its bright new MacBook Neo was $100, now $699. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air gets a $200 price increase, now starting at $1,299. That still gets you a beefy configuration, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, but it hurts coming just a few months after refreshing this laptop.
The increase in the MacBook Pro is the biggest. It’s nearly $400 off a starting price of $1,999, which is a 20 percent increase. That comes with twice the MacBook Air’s storage, but remember: it uses the same M5 chip under the hood. There hasn’t been a huge price gap between the Pro and Air models in years.
But there is a bright spot in all the doom and gloom. The announcement came in the middle of Amazon’s Big Day (which is now four days), and there are a few discounts that are now looking even more attractive. As of now, you can still buy 13-inch MacBook Air for $949 on sale, which is now $350 off Apple’s retail price. Even of $590 MacBook Neo it looks very attractive now that it’s $110 off full price.
The worst deal, however, is at the core of the MacBook Pro. It’s not marked for sale on Amazon, but at $1,549, it’s $450 off Apple’s price. I’m not suggesting you automatically buy this car for the savings alone, but if you’ve already had your eye on this model, now is the time.
I should mention that MacBooks aren’t the only products affected by Apple’s price hike. Time iPhones are not yet affectediMacs and Mac Studios have gone up in price, along with the entire iPad lineup. Here are the new prices:
- Basic iPad: $449 (from $349)
- iPad mini: $599 (from $499)
- iPad Air (11-inch): $749 (from $599)
- iPad Air (13-inch): $949 (from $749)
- iPad Pro (11-inch): $1,199 (from $999)
- iPad Pro (13-inch): $1,499 (from $1,299)
