Regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov said a massive bomb attack carried out by Russia in the center of the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy killed four people, including a child, on Friday and injured 27 others.
Other areas in Sumy region and southeast Ukraine, near the front line, were also attacked by Russia, killing a total of six people.
“In the center of the strike – a high-rise building, a shop and a street,” Hryhorov wrote in the Telegram of the strike in Sumy. “There were too many people. Children.”
Hryhorov said the dead included a five-year-old child and his mother.
The injured were being treated at the hospital, he said, including a 13-year-old child in serious condition.

President Volodymyr Zelensky posted pictures of the aftermath of the attack, including medical workers tending to the injured, a blood-spattered pavement, two abandoned shoes and a building in ruins.
