France striker Kylian Mbappe has hit back at a Paraguayan senator, calling her a “despicable woman”, after he racially abused her after Paraguay’s elimination from the World Cup.
Mbappe’s penalty proved the difference in a bruising and angry match as France won 1-0 in Philadelphia on Saturday to reach the quarter-finals.
In a post about the French forward after the match, Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla de Boccia wrote on X: “Bruto didn’t even learn to write. Instead of his mother’s milk he sucked on a coconut and the most educated thing he ever heard of was a chimpanzee.”
Among other things, the politician called Mbappe “a colonial Cameroonian, trying hard to pretend to be French”, “full of poverty, nouveau riche (new rich), arrogant and bad”, and as a “cruel” who did not learn to write.
The Paraguayan players should have applauded him after the match, he added.
Mbappe, the French captain, responded with strong words defending not only himself but also the Paraguayan players.
