FIFA has opened an investigation after an alleged racist incident involving an American YouTuber and a broadcaster
iShowSpeed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup match in Miami. The incident happened on July 3 at the Hard Rock Stadium during the group stage game between Argentina and Cape Verde.
While streaming the match live, IShowSpeed was seen confronting a spectator wearing an Argentina shirt after hearing offensive words directed at him. The supporter, who was speaking in Spanish, reportedly told the broadcaster to ‘go cry at the zoo,’ a comment widely interpreted as racist.
FIFA breaks the silence
FIFA confirmed that it was aware of the incident and issued a statement condemning racism. “FIFA strongly condemns racism, hatred and discrimination of all kinds. These actions have no place in football, the FIFA World Cup, or anywhere in society. The FIFA World Cup is a celebration of unity, diversity and respect. It brings together people, cultures and communities from around the world, and anyone who acts in a way that undermines these values,” that statement is not welcome in our game.
So far, neither IShowSpeed nor its representative has commented publicly on the investigation.
