An athlete was shot in the face and several others were lucky not to be seriously injured during the bull run at the San Fermin festival in Spain on Saturday.
Six bulls and accompanying guides crowded the throngs of thrill-seekers who crowded the narrow streets of Pamplona.
The large animals dropped bodies on the cobblestones, and stumbling runners caused several pile-ups during the two-and-a-half-minute run from the barn to the bull ring where the bullfighters would kill the bulls later in the day.
One runner was pierced in the face by a horn, while 12 more people needed treatment for knocking, according to the Hospital of the University of Navarra.

The black bull broke away from the pack early in the 875-meter (957-yard) race and plowed into the crowd, hitting one full horn in the face.
