Israeli gunfire in the Gaza refugee camp kills 6 people, including a 9-year-old girl


Israeli strikes killed at least six people in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including a 9-year-old girl, Palestinian health officials said, as negotiators held more talks to preserve a US-brokered ceasefire.

Medics said Israeli gunfire aimed at a tent camp east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza killed 9-year-old Tala Abu Matar. The Israeli army said it was not aware of the incident.

Airstrikes in an iron mining area in Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City have resulted in the death of four people. Witnesses said the area was hit by three Israeli missiles.

The Israeli military told reporters it had struck “terrorist” infrastructure, without giving further details.

Separately, the army said that since Thursday its forces had killed two Hamas fighters in northern Gaza who were planning attacks against its troops.

Later on Sunday, an Israeli strike on a tent camp in the Mawasi area of ​​Khan Younis, in the south, killed at least one person and wounded several others, including children, doctors said.
