Moments of importance can separate our lives into “before” and “after.” For me, one such example is life before I installed a bidet in my home, and then every moment that has come since then. Now I can’t imagine life without a bidet toilet seat, and I lament the lack of innovation on every business trip I take or any other reason that keeps me from my private bathroom. (When it comes to installing a bidet in the guest bathroom at your in-laws’ house, you know something has changed.) These devices have changed my life, for the better.
Although the bids are old 18th century Franceand bidet seat attachments have been popular for decades in Japanthe design may still be new to many Americans. However, the bidet is finally growing in popularity as more and more people are realizing that our bathroom habits are just too bad. The pressurized water of the bidet is very useful for frequently wiping yourself with paper towels.
It was my honor—seriously—to try out the latest innovations in the bidet industry, including the simple addition of toilet seats and the new modern masterpiece of single toilet technology. Call it a modern wonder, call it “buttmaxxing”—whatever you call it, count me in (especially if the bidet in question includes advanced features like a heated seat and precise oscillation).

The Best Bidet for Most People
For functionality, simplicity, and efficiency, the Brondell Swash 1400 is the best of the best, offering everything a novice bidet enthusiast could wish for, and at an attractive price, no less.
I found the Swash to perform its duties perfectly: heated seat, adjustable nozzle, fast but not invasive flow rate, and excellent odor reduction option. The simple design is accessible, and the included remote control is intuitive to use from the first time. You can organize two users, which is good for those who have certain preferences. The Swash’s drying capabilities are also quick and efficient.
Frankly, Swash is so nice and welcoming that after I finished testing this feature’s bids, it’s what I reinstalled for personal use.
Best Bidet Seat
The S7A is a flagship model from Toto, the Japanese bidet manufacturer that invented the bidet seat attachment. You could easily mistake the S7A for an ordinary toilet seat—at least until the lid is lifted and the nightlight comes on, when the device senses your presence in the bathroom.
The controls work as intuitively as other Toto packages, with buttons to adjust the position, power and angle of the sprinkler. There is also a button to make the drug rotate. A slim 4-inch remote allows four-person programming. If there’s any weak spot on the S7A—and this bidet is almost perfect—it’s that the dryer fan looks a little weaker than the previous model (the S550e), perhaps due to design compromises made when shaving down the length.
