The claims came from WKM News, a mock Instagram account that labels its content as ‘fake news’ and describes itself as ‘the most untrustworthy news source.’ Despite this, many fell for the fake news.
In fact, there is no evidence that Vinčić has disappeared. And obviously, the news is fake.
Meanwhile, FIFA has turned its attention to the movements of Argentina’s players and staff after the final. The organization confirmed on Monday that it has opened an investigation into the post-match confrontation and assigned a disciplinary and ethics prosecutor to review the incidents.
According to the BBC, those reported to be involved include Nahuel Molina, Leandro Paredes, Thiago Almada, and assistant coach Roberto Ayala. Earlier, FIFA also opened an investigation into racist abuse targeting the famous American broadcaster iShowSpeed (Darren Watkins Jr.). The government agency has not yet announced the results of the investigation.
