Iran’s president said on Saturday that the US demand for unconditional surrender was “a dream they should take to their graves”.
President Masoud Pezeshkian made the statement in a pre-recorded speech aired on national television.
He also apologized for Iran’s attacks on regional countries, saying Tehran would stop them and suggesting they were caused by miscommunication in the ranks.
He blamed the killing of the country’s supreme leader and other senior officials on what was seen as a loss of command and control in the armed forces in recent days.
The remarks were made when Iran’s fierce fire targeted the Arab Gulf states early Saturday while Israel and the United States continued their air strikes targeting the Islamic Republic.
Pezeshkian’s statement on Saturday said the country’s three-member governing council had been communicating with the military about the attacks.
