British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump called on Sunday for war in the Middle East, the British government said, after sharp criticism of the British Prime Minister and the US leader.
“The leaders began by discussing the latest situation in the Middle East and military cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States through the use of RAF bases to support the joint defense of partners in the region,” Starmer’s office said in a statement.
“The prime minister also shared his heartfelt condolences President Trump and the American people following the deaths of six American soldiers.
“They looked forward to speaking again soon,” the statement added.
It did not say whether the couple had discussed the breakup of their close relationship in the past week.
