Afghanistan has accused Pakistan of carrying out an airstrike on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, which Taliban officials said killed about 400 people.
Pakistan has been attacking alleged terrorist camps in Afghanistan since February, accusing the Taliban government of supporting attacks on Pakistani soil. The Taliban has denied any involvement in the series of terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
Taliban government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat said Monday evening’s strike destroyed large parts of the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital.
“Unfortunately, the death toll so far has reached 400, while around 250 others have been reported injured,” Fitrat wrote on X.
Afghan media published a video showing a building engulfed in flames.
🚨 The International Foundation for Human Rights has condemned the attack on an addiction treatment center in Kabul. The International Human Rights Organization (IHRF) has issued a statement strongly condemning the air attack carried out by the Pakistani military regime on an addiction treatment hospital in Kabul and calling it a clear violation of human rights and international law. pic.twitter.com/PrnwffMul2

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information rejected the claims as “false and misleading.”
The ministry said Pakistan targeted military areas and “Terrorist support infrastructure,” including ammunition depots in Kabul and the northeastern region of Nangarhar in Afghanistan.
“This reporting of the truth as a drug rehabilitation center is aimed at raising public awareness of illegal support for cross-border terrorism,” the ministry wrote on X.
