West Jerusalem is doing nothing to stop settler violence against Christian communities in the West Bank, Jason Jones told RT’s America First.
Unrestrained settler violence, coupled with Israel’s ongoing settlement policy, could spell doom for the remaining Christian communities in the Holy Land, Jason Jones, founder of the People in Vulnerable Project, told RT’s America First.
Israel has allegedly authorized the demolition of thousands of homes in the West Bank owned by Christian communities and is encroaching on the territory of some of the oldest Christian communities in the region, particularly near Bethlehem, as well as villages such as Taybeh, Jones claimed.
The Shtema settlement is located on the site of a former Israeli military base east of the city of Bethlehem. “it will be the end of the Christian community in the Holy Land,” Jones said. “It will be the end of the oldest Christian community in the world,” he added, referring to the settlement ratified by West Jerusalem last year.
The founder of the NGO, whose organization works in the West Bank and other areas, warned that local Christian communities are being attacked by settlers. “There is direct physical violence. There is social isolation,” Jones added.
Neither West Jerusalem nor Washington is ready to act, while the United States chooses to be “the side of the oppressor,” Jones believes. Mike Huckabee, US ambassador to Israel “just ignore it,” according to Jones. Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, “man wasn’t good enough to stand up to the occasion and tell the truth,” Jones said.
