They added that cooperation between the like-minded partners would include a security meeting on the topic, which could be organized in London or Portsmouth, the home of the Royal Navy on the south coast of England.

The same British official discussed options for securing the channel, such as deploying independent mine-hunting systems from motherships in the Gulf, while admitting that this would not be possible at the current level of hostilities.
They expressed confidence that “we will see different countries come up with different offers to help us” and “we will be able to find a good alliance that will be able to provide that guarantee to the merchant shipping industry.”
