I was a late change air fryersin part because I was worried about consumption: Just how many wings and nuggets and fries does anyone need? (Don’t answer. Answer will indict you.)
The Typhur Dome 2 is the air fryer that eliminated this concern, adding pizza, brown meat, grilled asparagus, and fried bread to this menu—not to mention perfect crispy bacon. It’s an innovative device that takes on many of the functions of a conventional auxiliary oven, but with more power.
After testing over 30 fryers over the past year, the Dome 2 is by far and away the most powerful, versatile, accurate, and fastest fryer I know of. I have preached this since I tried it last year. But one big caveat is always the price: It’s listed at $500 and rarely drops below $400.
So imagine my surprise when I saw the Dome 2 drop to $340 for Amazon’s Spring Sale, the lowest I’ve seen it since Black Friday. If you’ve been looking for an upgrade to your old basket fryer, maybe now is a good time. The sale runs until March 31.
Fast, Versatile, Software-Controlled Cookers
So why is the Dome 2 my favorite fryer? Typhur, a technology company based in San Francisco but with engineering and manufacturing ties to China, reinvented the look and function of the traditional basket fryer by creating a wide and shallow basket, with two individually controllable heating elements.
This means the Dome 2 has room for freezer pizza, and can apply direct heat from below to add real crunch and crispiness to the crust, just like a combination oven. The deep Dome basket also allows you to spread the ingredients in a single layer for better air flow, while heating from both sides. I can whip up two dozen wings in just 14 minutes (or 17 minutes if I deep fry). The Dome also dries bread evenly, and roasts pork without stinking up the house—in part because it does a good job of cleaning itself.
Timing accuracy is within 5 or 10 degrees of target, and the fan can adjust its speed according to cooking conditions. And the smart app is especially useful, with nearly 50 recipes ranging from asparagus to eclairs to steak and London steak that can be synced at the touch of a button. But keep in mind that some functions, like baking, require software to work, and the device is more prone to hogs than most tall basket fryers.
Typhur Screen Assisted Oven Also For Sale
The Dome 2 basket is a little small for a whole bird or a large roast, however. If you want a large meat fryer, I often recommend the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, which is my go-to. favorite convection all parts toaster. This is a (very) smart oven and fryer that doesn’t heat up wings and fry like basket fryers, but can be used more for grilling larger proteins like a whole chicken. Breville is also selling well right now, down 20 percent.
