Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi continued his incredible run by winning the United States Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday. The Italian rider led all 20 laps at the Circuit of the Americas to take his third straight win of the season and his fifth straight win since last year.
Bezzecchi crossed the line 2.036 seconds ahead of teammate Jorge Martin, with KTM’s Pedro Acosta completing the podium. The victory also enabled Bezzecchi to regain the lead in the MotoGP standings with 81 points, four more than Martin.
Historic Races
With this result, Bezzecchi became the third Italian rider to win five races in a row, joining the legends Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini. He is also the first rider since Marc Marquez in 2014 to win the first three races of a season.
“This is amazing. I mean, I wasn’t expecting a day like this after yesterday, because it wasn’t easy, and I made a mistake, and it was important to come back,” Bezzecchi said after the race. “Fortunately, my team was very close to me, and they gave me the motivation to try again. I’m very happy – I can’t describe my feelings right now.”
Race Summary
Starting fourth on the grid, Bezzecchi outmuscled early leader Acosta on the opening lap. Despite a brief scare when the two touched at Turn 11, Bezzecchi held firm and pulled away gradually. Martin, who started seventh, recovered from an early mistake to secure second place, while Acosta battled hard to finish third.
Polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth, while Austin’s defending champion Francesco Bagnaia struggled to finish 10th. Marc Marquez salvaged fifth place after serving a lengthy penalty, resisting pressure from Enea Bastianini.
