Sunrisers Hyderabad responded in style after their defeat by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the sixth match of last season, SRH thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs at the Eden Gardens to get their first win of IPL 2026. This win is special, as it came while defending the total, which is the first of the season.
Led by skipper Ishan Kishan, the SRH batsmen redeemed themselves by bowling out KKR for 161 in 16 overs, a huge difference to the poor result against RCB. For KKR, this was their second loss in a row, dropping them to number nine in the points table.
KKR invited SRH to bat first and the orange team did so in style. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got off to a flying start by adding 82 runs in just 5.4 overs. Abhishek hit 48 off 21 balls, while Head contributed 46 off 21. Despite a short fight from Blessing Muzarabani, who took four wickets, SRH reached 200 thanks to Heinrich Klaasen’s 52 off 35 balls. Nitish Reddy also chipped in with a valuable 39 as SRH finished on 226 for 8.
KKR also got off to a flying start with Finn Allen hitting 28 off seven balls, but his dismissal led to a collapse. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi again impressed with a quick-fire 52 from 29 balls, but frequent wickets ended the game. Ajinkya Rahane struggled, Cameron Green ran out of steam, and Rinku Singh collapsed under pressure.
Jaydev Unadkant was the pick of the players for SRH picking up 3 wickets, Eshan Malinga and Nitish Reddy also chipped in with two wickets each.
