The Senators are showing defensive ability against the Isles

Midway through the first half on a penalty kick, Greig forced a turnover inside the Senators’ zone, beat the Islanders’ Jean-Gabriel Pageau, took a pass from Michael Amadio and lifted it over the glove of Ilya Sorokin for a short-handed 1-0 goal. “He’s a badger out there,” captain Brady Tkachuk said of Greig during a halftime interview with TSN’s Gord Miller. Greig got the head of New York defenseman Tony DeAngelo in the second half by playing him hard in the offensive zone. DeAngelo vented his frustrations seconds later, drawing a penalty for Greig’s interference in front of the net. The Sens forward was solid on the PK and made some smart plays as the Islanders pressed late in the game, once intentionally pulling a glass capsule into the net to get stopped.
