Russia announced a 32-hour ceasefire to celebrate the Orthodox Easter, starting at 4pm on Saturday and lasting until Sunday, following calls from Kyiv for a ceasefire during the holiday period.
Ukraine and Russia exchange 175 prisoners of war with the ceasefire beginning on Saturday.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X Saturday that Ukraine would “observe the ceasefire” but “react firmly” to any possible violations.
“If there is no Russian strike, there will be no response from us,” he said he said. But he added that “every Ukrainian unit retains the right to respond.”
